Data Aquisition for Targeting

There exist numerous web-based resources that can assist with creating a targeting framework. While watershed groups working on a small spatial scale may want to conduct some of their own monitoring and evaluation to identify critical source areas, existing resources from both state and federal agencies can provide a significant amount of information to be applied in assessing the conditions of your watershed. Because states are still in the process of responding to the Stoner Memo and improving their plans to address nutrient pollution, we may see short term improvements in the coordination between the various sources of data. This section will provide an overview of some of the existing resources available as well as an overview of some methodology for acquiring one’s own data to assist in monitoring efforts.
